10g / .35oz (packed for one bottle of wine)
Ingredients: cinnamon, orange, lemon, star anise, cloves, fennel
- Water: 8 oz filtered water
- Temperature: 212° F
- Leaves: 3 heaped teaspoons
- Time: 5-10 minutes
To create an alcoholic version of mulled wine using Chicago Teahouse's Gluhwein Spice blend, start by heating 750 ml (25.4 oz) of your favorite red or white wine (or even cider) to around 80°C/176°F. Then, add 4-8 teaspoons of the Gluhwein Spice blend (depending on how spicy you like your mulled wine) and 50-100 g (1/4-1/2 cup) of sugar.
Once you've added the spices and sugar, keep the mixture just below a simmer and heat for anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, depending on how much time you have and how strong you want the flavor to be. Just be sure not to let the mixture come to a full boil, as this can make the wine taste bitter.
When you're ready to serve, strain the mixture to remove any large spice particles, pour it into your favorite mugs, and enjoy!
