Crafted from the lower section of the calabash, these gourds require specific care. Conventional wisdom suggests they be cured, cleaned, and dried after each use to ensure longevity. 

Curing a gourd enhances its durability and water resistance, shielding it against cracks and fissures. While many debate whether manual curing is necessary or if the process happens naturally through use, one step is non-negotiable: drying. After each session, discard the used yerba, rinse the interior, and leave the gourd upright to dry overnight. Skipping this crucial step invites mold growth.
